Bella's Book Review: The Better To Hold You

Oh look, something new and shiny!

I have decided to start reviewing some of the books I read here on the blog, for a few reasons. One, I love to read, and I love to share books that impacted me in some way. Two, if I write about it, it kind of holds me accountable and will make me read more. I used to blow through two or three books a week but now it takes me a while longer as I have so many other things to do...or procrastinate doing, whatever.

So I will have pics of the books I am reading over on the right sidebar there *waves in that direction* and when I am done I will post a little review...sound good? Awesome, now lets begin.....

Last night I finished The Better To Hold You by Alisa Sheckley.

Normally I am not a big Werewolf type book or movie fan, which is funny because I love wolves. Jack read it some time ago and told me I would love it, but I have been working through the massive tome of The Land Of Painted Caves and did not want to distract myself. I had reached a tough point in that book however so I picked up The Better To Hold You for what I thought would be some light reading.

I was wrong.

It sucked me in like crazy and I did not want to put it down.

The main character is Abra Barrow and she is a Veterinarian in Manhattan. Her beloved husband, Hunter, who is a journalist, returns from a trip to Romania, starts to act very strange when he returns. Later they move to his family estate out in the sticks upstate, where she tries to save her marriage.

She soon learns her husband is not what he seems, not who he was, nor is she, or the people they meet in the new town, including a sexy stranger named Red.

Abra's famous old horror movie starlet Mother is also in the book, and she adds a flair of drama to the mix.

By the end, Abra has to choose between her husband and taking a chance on the sexy stranger, or following her animal instincts in a new direction, all the while dealing with something that she thought was only true in fiction and old movies.

The book is very intense, written in a style that keeps you on the edge of your seat, flipping pages as fast as you can process them to find out what happens next.

It is also a very sexy book, with some scenes ( nothing overly graphic, again, it is written beautifully to give you the feeling with out a lot of in your face sex ) that will leave you breathless.

I was very excited to learn that a sequel is already out, which I plan to get as soon as I can, called MoonBurn.

I give it 4 stars out of 5.

If you haven't read it, I recommend Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Moon series. Three sisters who are half fae and half human, who come Earthside where sex and hijinks ensue.

The series draws you in more with each book because the characters are well written and the story flows well.

Thanks for sharing your reading choices!

PS: I have no idea what a huyqmxmx is, but it sounds worriesome
