Yesterday I was a little apprehensive about walking with Vicky, my new walking partner. I spend so much time alone, other than with my family, I was afraid all my social skills would have left me. Then I was worried she would not want to go after all, and I would have gone in an hour later for nothing.
Well it turns out all my fear were for nothing. It was great! I went out at 8:25, right as her kids were getting on the bus, and we headed out. In less that 5 minutes we had already exchanged the basic life story for each of us lol. I do not think I have ever admitted so much of my personal life to someone I just met in so quick a time. She shared just as much with me, and then some, so it was a mutual thing. I am not sure if it was because I had someone else there to distract me from slogging through all that sand or what, but we did the 3 miles in a little over half the time it usually takes me alone. My calves are still feeling that burn but it is great! We even set a new goal, which is to walk the entire dirt part of the road that we walk on, which is an almost 6 mile round trip. I am going to see if we can do that Monday.
After we got back she invited me over to her place ( she lives directly across the street from me ) and I got to see the inside of her house. We talked about all kinds of things, and we have a lot in common. It was really fun and I am so glad we are doing this. I told her before I left that she is welcome to come to my place any time, I am home alone all day, and she said the same thing to me! I am really hoping we will end up friends, it will be so nice to have someone so close I can hang with in person, instead of only getting to talk to my friends online because they live to far away.
She is going to walk with me every day I walk unless something comes up. I told her if it is pouring rain I am not walking, and any time the kids are out of school I will not be walking, which she agreed with as her girlfriend's two little ones and her own teenage daughter are on the same schedule as Alex, and the kids can not make that trip with us lol. Friday for instance, the kids are out for a teachers planning day so we will not be going. Alex turns 6 on Friday so it is cool, she can stay home for her birthday! ( And I get to sleep in, woot!!)
So all in all, it was awesome, and I am really excited to have someone to be walking with, and hopefully gain a friend out of the deal as well. If today is any indication, we are going to get alone just fine!
Have a Happy Wednesday!

How awesome for you!!! I'm eagerly awaiting the day my best friend moves in with us (beginning of November) so that we can walk together.
Sounds like the beginning of a wonderful new friendship for you.
And yes...the layout on my blog is new. Glad you like it :)
