It's been a long week...

I know I still owe you all a Part Two of my last post...but it has been a long week. It is also hard to write a post about how you have changed in regards to love, when you want to smack your spouse with a 2x4.

It's been one of those weeks y'all.

We ran errands for two days, and I alternated with being really busy to not having the energy to move.

This morning I got Alex off to school and since it is a Friday and I do not have to get up early tomorrow, I went back to bed until a little after noon.

The mood of the house has not been that great this week either. When the money is gone the day you get it, it tends to make things a little tense.

Such is life.

Next week both Jack and I have doctors appointments. He, for his post-op follow up appointment, and my appointment is to meet with the neurologist to talk about Parkinson's.

I also got picked for Jury Duty yesterday. Thrilling, eh?

So it has just been a long week and I am glad the weekend is here.

We have no plans. We are just going to chill out here at home and watch the race tomorrow night.

So that sums up my week. How was yours? Any plans for the weekend? The weather has been nicer this last week. It seems like Spring is finally here in North Florida. How is the weather where you are?

I will be back soon, with Part Two...once I decide if I need that 2x4 or not...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Sort of a sleepy Saturday

Not much going on today here in the House of Wolf. I made an executive decision to not do any more major cleaning or rearranging as long as all three of us are here in the house. It is kind of like seeing a tornado coming at you, and hurrying to clean the house before the tornado obliterates it. Pointless and an effort in futility.

So I just ran the vac and dusted, and then called it a day. Alex goes back to school Tuesday, so I will start again then.

It had been raining and chilly the last few days, and while normally I welcome the rain, it is driving me nuts right now. My shoulder and ankle are letting me know in no uncertain terms that it is raining, and I can not seem to get warm. Hot showers, hot beverages, activity and even blankets are not helping. It might be my anemia...I have not eaten yet today so that is probably not helping matters.

Anyway, I am going to be hunting for a new layout soon, as the holidays are finally over, thank goodness. So excuse my dust as I make a few changes!

What are you guys and gals up to this weekend?

It was a sleepy weekend...NaBloWriMo Day 8

I loved it. I got to sleep until almost noon both days, I did not have to wear pants all of Saturday, and Sunday we went to the flea market.

Jack wanted to go, he was chomping at the bit to go, he has been cooped up in the house for a long time now, and he hates that. I was uncertain, he still has a really hard time walking far, but he was going with or without me so I went. As I feared, it was hard for him, I had to go back to the truck not ten minutes later and get his cane ( which thankfully he remembered to bring ) because he was hurting. We still had fun though.

I stocked up on my incense for the month, and I found two books, both in mint condition hardcover, for 50 cents each. Water for Elephants and When Mountains Walked were the titles, and they looked like they had just been plucked from the book store's shelves. They even had the new book smell still. I was thrilled. We got Alex one of the hardcover Diary of a Wimpy Kid books ( she loves those ) also brand new looking, for 50 cents, and we got her 4 other kids books, at a quarter a piece. So for $2.25 we got 7 hardcover, brand new looking books. Mama was happy.

After we left there, we stopped by the dollar store and spent 20 bucks and got Alex a lot of craft stuff, which is half of her birthday present. We gave that to her early...I hope it will keep her out of my closet where the rest of her presents are, in a big bag covered by a blanket lol. So hard to believe my baby girl will be 8 in a few days.

Jack cooked dinner last night. Fried chicken ( we rarely eat anything fried, and I refuse to fry anything, so if he wants it, he does it lol ) and mashed potatoes and gravy, with creamed corn and biscuits. He got a copycat KFC ( Kentucy Fried Chicken ) recipe off the net for the chicken, along with the potatoes and gravy, and they were right on the money! SO good. He even promised to not make a huge mess, and other than the fact I had to wait until 8:30 to do dishes due to the hour we got home, the time it took him to cook, and the fact he went to go take a shower right after dinner, so I had to let the water reheat, there was not much clean up for me to do.

Saturday night I stayed up until 3 in the morning to finish A Circle in the Woods by Winston Emerson...the author I am going to be doing the interview with. After the interview is posted I will do a proper book review. It was interesting and I have a bit to say about it, but you will have to wait until after the interview, har har!

Today I have a little alone time, Jack went to go pay the rent and I decided to stay home and be all by myself, which rarely happens. I got to blast my Fleetwood Mac and clean the house. I am happy!

This week will be a little busy. I have interview questions to write, a post for Planet Buddha to finish, Jack has his follow up doctor appointment on Wednesday, Friday I am going to my mothers house to help her prepare food for people, which will be eaten Saturday after we get back from scattering my Dad's ashes.

So yeah, a full schedule for me this week. Along with the daily chores like cooking and homework and all that stuff. Next week will hopefully be calmed down a little, other than my writing stuff. Jack's doc may go ahead and send him to physical therapy, which personally I do not think he is near ready for that yet, but if he does then I will have alone time twice a week for a couple of hours, which will be awesome. I am looking forward to that.

I guess that is about it for now. Nothing else has been going on the last couple of days. A nice and relaxing weekend for the most part!

Hope you all have a great week, and I will be back tomorrow!

My new dress...

I finally changed my layout for the season. I was looking for something with a Fall motif, but came across this kick ass black cat layout and had to have it lol. So this will suit me well for a couple of months when I change it for Winter.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me, we will be at my parents house all weekend ( as we have been the last 3 out of 4 weekends ) and I am looking forward to it. The last month has been great, we have been spending lots of time over there and everyone has gotten along and good times and food were had by all yay!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the good weather for those of you that have it!

Weekend home improvements part 2: Bathroom

Happy Tuesday guys and gals! It is a gorgeous sunny day outside, and there is a strong breeze blowing all the remnants of Winter out of the trees!

It was another busy weekend for me, as I repainted the bathroom. I never thought such a small room would take so much work! It took twice as long as repainting the whole living room lol. I do not have pics yet, because I still have some minor cosmetic work to do in there, like panting the cabinet under the sink and getting a new shower curtain and window curtain, but as soon as I do I will post pics.

I have Jack 5 color choices to choose from, 3 lavender shades and 2 blue shades. Since the room is small, I chose lighter shades. Well he chose purple, which I knew he would, as it is his favorite color, and to be honest, he spends WAY more time in there than anyone else in the house, so that was a given lol.

The problem was, the color he came home with was WAY to dark. It reminded me of grape flavored bubble yum bubble gum. Remember that stuff? Yeah.

At first I was like ok, I will just mix it with some white that we have and lighten it up to the shade I want. But I wanted to see what the color would look like alone so I went ahead and painted it in the original color. Jack loved it, I hated it. Not to mention it took a lot of work because there were a lot of tight spaces I could not fit a roller in, so I had to do it with a paintbrush. Not that I minded, painting is in my blood, but let me tell you, I never want to be that close to my toilet again, ever! I left it alone the first night, and let it dry. Jack spackled a couple of holes we found in the walls UNDER the wallpaper we tore out, ( shakes fist at lazy landlord ) and after those were dry I painted over that.

The next day I decided I still hated it, and later that night I got some of my white paint out and proceeded to sponge paint white over the purple.THAT was an arm breaking task let me tell you! I was using a square sponge ( it was all I had ) so you can see outlines of the tops of the square, but in the end it gave it a stone look, with a slightly geometric pattern in it. It takes a little getting used to, but I have decided I love it! Everyone else I know will probably think it is ugly as hell but I like it and Jack likes it so it is all good.

I painted a copper shelf we have had forever with a thin coat of white, which gave it a sort of antique, slightly distressed look, and I love that too. I put Jack on ceiling and trim duty because my arms were shot after two days of painting lol. In the end I really like it, and will like it even more when we replace the curtains and I get the cabinet painted, and hang some artwork on the walls. The tile needs to be replaced, but it does in the kitchen and washer/dryer alcove as well, so that will come last.

I have to say, the best part was getting it all put back together. I was irritated with Jack all week, which is the first time that has happened in a whole YEAR, because he decides to start tearing the wallpaper out and making a huge mess of the bathroom on Wednesday of last week, KNOWING that no repair work or painting could take place until Friday when he got paid, so for days my bathroom products were all over the place, all over the washer and dryer, stuffed to bursting point under the bathroom cabinet, I even had stuff in my bedroom. I could not wash clothes for days. I was fit to be tied for days because I hate that stuff! I have weird OCD moments, and having my stuff scattered all over the house makes me twitch. So I was in a royal snit with him for a few days lol.

I spent the later part of Sunday afternoon putting stuff back where it belongs and cleaning, which was a chore and a half lol. I was exhausted by Sunday night and was very happy to fall into bed!

This coming week ( well, what is left of the week ) I am probably going to start on either the kitchen or Alex's room. We already have the paint for both those rooms. They are both pretty involved and are about the same amount of work, so it is just a matter of what to do first lol.

I guess that is about it, like I said, when I get the room totally done ( except the floor ) I will post some pics and show it off!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Weekend Bliss

So I took a little bit of a vacation blog break this weekend to spend a blissful weekend with my family. It was a great weekend, with all day and half the night NASCAR on Saturday, and Jack's first homemade pizza that was so freaking good, I am so proud of him, he made the dough and everything, it was spectacular, I even got to take a rare nap that afternoon, and then the Super Bowl today and what do you know...

THE SAINTS WON BABY!!!!

I was so stoked! I watched the first half and the last quarter, missed halftime and 3rd quarter due to dinner and dishes and what not, but wow, what a kick ass game!

In honor of the game I made Cajun dirty rice, black eyed peas, Cajun seasoned corn and jalapeno cornbread for dinner and it was awesome.

So tomorrow after some odd cleaning projects I will get back to the last couple of vacation entries. I refuse to upload the pics to Facebook until I finish my blogs so I need to get the lead out lol.

I hope you all had a great weekend and stay tuned for more vacation blogs tomorrow!

I got my hair done!

Hiya guys and gals! Happy Friday! Hooray it's the weekend!

Today did not go QUITE as planned, Jack was supposed t get his W-2 filed today, even had an appointment, but when he got there, they were backed up over 3 hours so he said screw that and made an appt for noon tomorrow. He still had his usual paycheck so we used it tonight instead. We went to get some Mexican for dinner, which was awesome, and then we hit the store, and I ended up getting my hair cut, layered, and straightened, and I just love it! The pics I took are not great, but if you are a regular, you have seen my waist length mess of curls self, so you will hopefully see the difference! It is so much lighter and feels so much better!

I am going to share three pics!

If you look closely you can see my scar from my wreck I wrote about in the one below!

I also call that one above my "Yeah, Whatever" face lol...

And here is a slightly brighter one....

So now my hair is a lot shorter, a lot straighter ( until I wash it lol ) and it looks and feels awesome!

After that we went and bought a couple of odds and ends, I got some Hemp Lotion ( AWESOME stuff and my favorite, but pricey so I do not buy it often, I got a HUGE bottle ) and some caramel flavored rice cakes, because I love them, a Xbox game for my eldest daughters birthday present, and a movie for Alex. I also bought a hair product at the salon for my unruly tresses. It is called " It's a 10"  and it does 10 miracle cures for hair, and let me tell you, it works!

After that we headed home, and gods my living room is a wreck lol...stuff all over the place and I hate that, so here in a few I am going to clean it all up so I wont have to deal with it tomorrow, as I am going over to my moms for cake and ice cream for my daughters birthday, and then we are town bound to do some more shopping and pay some bills.

Next weekend is VACATION TIME BABY!!! With or without Alex, I will be in a elegant hotel suite with a balcony that reaches over the Bay, real down comforters, the best seafood restaurant in this part of Florida, all caught fresh daily, and I get to watch the sun rise and set over the water...I am SO freaking stoked!

I might get my nails done tomorrow as well, I am in need of some girly pampering! Maybe get me some new duds too...its been over a year since I got new clothes!

SO today was great, and hopefully the rest of the weekend will be even more awesome!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!
